How to color rice

1 tablespoon of vinegar per 1 cup of rice and however much coloring you need to reach the color you want.
Mix them in zip lock bags. Pour the vinegar and coloring in, added the cup of rice and shake (zipped closed)  to get the colored vinegar everywhere.
Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper and pour the rice, single layer, onto it.  It will take about an hour to dry.

Homemade Everyday Laundry Soap

I have found this to get my clothes cleaner and my whites brighter!

2c borax
2c washing soda
1c oxiclean (I use the generic brand)
1 bar fels naptha

Chunk the bar and add a little powder so it doesn't stick to itself and throw it into a magic bullet. Process until it's a fine powder. If you don't have a magic bullet, then grate the bar with a cheese grater. Then simply mix everything together! I use 1 1/2 -2T per load. I also like to pour 1/4c vinegar into the fabric softener spot in my washing machine. You don't have a pickle smell on your clothes when they are done. If your whites aren't coming out as white as you like them, then simply add a little more oxiclean. It's just that easy! Enjoy.

*I don't encourage you to use this with cloth diapers. I have another recipe that is similar under the care section for cloth diapers.

Diaper Pictures

Here are pictures of finished diapers. I will post all the different colors I have for sale within the next 24 hrs. Enjoy!

Washing your diapers...

You will need to prep your soakers before using them. The more you wash them, the more they will hold. To reach full absorbancy, they need to be washed 8 times. You can start using them after 1-2 washes.

So, I've tried many of the laundry soaps out there to get my daughters diapers smelling clean and fresh and I've finally found one! It is a homemade laundry soap and it works like a charm. I was very
skeptical at first, but was a true believer after just one wash! My husband is just glad that she doesn't smell like ammonia any more. We have very hard water and have a water softener, so this is what has worked for us:

1 cup washing soda (not baking soda)
1 cup borax
1/2 cup oxi clean
Mix all of the powders together and use 1-2T per load. That's it!

I found everything in the laundry isle at the grocery store. I used the generic brand of oxi clean and it works great! My diapers no longer stink and the soap build up is gone.

Washing steps:
Pre rinse on cold
Wash on warm
Wash on hot with extra rinse
Hang covers up to dry and throw the soakers and doublers in the dryer.

This is the best way I have found to get the microfiber clean. Microfiber is extremely absorbent so it is hard to get them clean. It's a trade off for trimmer diapers, but I need my daughters pants to fit over her diapers. If you are having a problem with the smell not coming out, either hang them outside to dry in the sun or I've heard that Bac Out is a great product to use.
If you have problems, let me know and I'll help you!

Open for business!

Well, it's official! I"m open for business! I have joined the green movement and have designed my own cloth diaper pattern. I started by just making them for my daughter, but had people wanting to buy what I have made.

I have created an AI2 cloth diaper that I have fallen in love with. Here is what I put in mine:
Cover: PUL and suedecloth
Soaker: Microfleece (to keep baby's bum dry), microfiber inside and cotton on the back
Doubler: Cotton and microfiber
Closure: Snaps

Small 8lbs-16lbs
Medium 14lbs-25lbs
Large 22lbs-30lbs

The diapers are $15 and that includes 1 cover, 1 soaker and 1 doubler.
Special needs sets are $12.

Special Needs: I have made diapers for special needs kidos and am willing to work with you to create one that will fit your child. The ones I have made included a slit for a catheter to go through to a soaker in a pocket diaper for night time wear. The leg openings can be made a little smaller for kidos in wheelchairs too so you don't have messy leaks. I also make thinner soakers for kidos who use a catheter because they don't need the extra absorbency that a typical child might need. Making these diapers are more time consuming and use more material, but I feel that when you have a special needs kido, everything else you need to buy for them can be so expensive. I want to help off set that by offering those diapers at a lower price. I hope that helps!

I am currently making orders as they come, so it will take me a few days to get your order shipped out to you. I'm doing it this way so you can customize your diapers! You get to pick the PUL, color of suedecloth and snap colors!
